Southwest Florida Chapter

Become a Member

Eligibility:  If you were a Commissioned Officer or a Warrant Officer in Active Duty,  Retired, Former—National Guard and Reserve of the uniformed services:  Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration as well as spouses of deceased Officers, you are eligible for membership.  Accomplishing the mission in units and teams is what we have been about as Service Members, and it is certainly what MOASWF Chapter is all about.

Enjoy camaraderie:  We gather each month, from September to May, for dinner at one of the many country clubs or restaurants in the area.  We have a short update on the Chapter and normally have a presentation.  These social events are attended by members, spouses, and guests.  It is a great way to meet new friends, renew old friendships and catch up on the latest news.

An asset to County and State:  We support and our volunteers participate in events such as Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day.  Support is also provided through collaboration with the Collier County Veterans Council,  and our community at large with our Holiday Gift Program for selected charities.

Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC):  We firmly believe in the youth of America and their motto:   Motivate High School Students to Become Better Citizens.  We support eight JROTC programs located in Collier County and Lee County.  In May, we honor outstanding Cadets, their parents, their Senor Instructors and spouses at an Annual Awards banquet.  Our members present MOAA Award Medals to  Cadets at High School Commencement  Award ceremonies.

  • Holiday Dinner Dance:  Members may donate gifts for our Holiday Gift Program which will bring a  happier holiday to the less fortunate in our community.

  • Formal Military Ball is held in February.  Members and guests are encouraged to wear their dress uniform, which many do.

  • Monthly Social Events with guest speakers

  • Military Officers Spouses Association (MOSA):   Informal group in which anyone may participate.  Members and guests meet monthly, throughout the year, at various venues in Collier County.

  • Auxiliary Membership:  Effective 15 Nov 2008, our Bylaws state surviving spouses of officers eligible for membership in our Chapter may become Auxiliary Members with all the rights and privileges of Regular Members including the right to vote and hold office.
